He said the show isn’t actually about love, and the show has proven it is better at producing failed relationships than successful ones.“Nothing you see on the ‘Bachelor’ is organic,” Carbone said. “Everything is controlled by producers and they know what’s going on at all times.”TCU alum Olivia Caridi received the “first impression rose” on last night’s season premiere of “The Bachelor.” (Photo: Rick Rowell/ABC Television Group)“These people are put in a bubble for a couple months where they think they’re falling in love with the other person, but what they’re really falling in love with is the idea that they’re falling in love,” Carbone said.To see spoilers for this season of “The Bachelor” or episode recaps, realitysteve.com has the whole season online and will be updating as more information is revealed. ‘Liters for Life’ student campaign raises funds for global water crisis
Receive email alerts Organisation News SyriaMiddle East – North Africa Reporters Without Borders is disturbed to learn that Tal Al-Mallouhi, a 19-year-old student and blogger who has been detained for the past 11 months, is to be tried before a special security court whose verdicts cannot be appealed.Brought before the high court for state security in Damascus on 10 November, Mallouhi is reportedly accused of spying on behalf of the United States. She is being held in solitary confinement in Duma prison, near Damascus, where her family has been allowed to visit her only once since her arrest by intelligence officers at the end of December 2009.“We urge the Syrian authorities to act in a transparent manner and to try this young blogger before an ordinary court, and if they cannot produce real evidence against her, instead of vague allegations, she should be released,” Reporters Without Borders said.“She is an ordinary student who, far from being a dissident, just shared her vision of society on her blog,” the press freedom organization added. “She appears to have been the victim of a crude piece of manipulation by the Syrian intelligence services.”Mallouhi, whose computer and personal effects were seized at the time of her arrest, blogged mainly about the fate of the Palestinians. The charges against her seem to be based above all on a letter she wrote to U.S. President Barack Obama urging him to take a more balanced position towards the Arabs and Muslims, and on an invitation she received to attend a U.S. national holiday reception at the U.S. embassy in Cairo. It appears that the Syrian authorities were looking for a scapegoat to blame in connection with an attack on a Syrian intelligence officer in Cairo. At least seven Syrian human rights organizations have signed an appeal for her release that was organized by the Syrian Human Rights Observatory, the Syrian League for the Defence of Human Rights and the National Organization for Human Rights in Syria. This data was pulled from Black Knight’s loan-level database, which represents the majority of the national mortgage market.September experienced its first annual rise in mortgage delinquencies since July 2010, mainly as a result of hurricane impact, to 4.40 percent according to Black Knight. Over 2.6 million properties are 30 or more days past-due but not in foreclosure in September 2017; 80,000 more than the same time last year. . While non-current mortgages jumped by 9 percent month-over-month, or roughly 214,000, mainly driven from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, monthly foreclosure starts were at their lowest in more than 17 years. Areas covered by post-foreclosure action moratoriums experienced starts as low as 90 percent, with total foreclosure starts landing at 45,200 in September and decreasing 17.4 percent month-over-month.DS News reached out to Black Knight for a comment on Florida’s improving non-current rates prior to Hurricane Irma: “Florida had the highest non-current mortgage rates of any state for almost five full years–from September 2008 through August 2013. The state’s solid improvement in the years since has helped it climb from number 50 among all states ranked by lowest share of past due mortgages to 28th. In the wake of Irma, Florida has seen–thus far–a 47 percent jump in its non-current rate, dropping it all the way back to 47th place. The rise in Florida’s non-current rate is likely to continue in October.”Total U.S. loan delinquency increased 11.85 percent compared to August 2017, with the number of properties 30 or more days past due without being in foreclosure landing at 2.25 million, up 242,000 compared to August. Total U.S. foreclosure pre-sale inventory dropped 0.7 percent and fell 30.1 percent year-over-year. FEMA-declared hurricane disaster areas accounted for the bulk of increases with non-current inventory raising by 84,000 or 48 percent in Irma disaster areas and 52,000 or 67 percent in areas related to Harvey.Prior to the hurricanes, Florida and Texas were ranked 22nd and 20th by non-current mortgage rates; these states have since jumped to 5th and 3rd respectively. The full datasets can be viewed here. Carmelo Anthony and Paul George went to Oklahoma City, Gordon Hayward and Irving went to Boston, Isaiah Thomas got sent to Cleveland, Jimmy Butler is now in Minnesota and Paul Millsap calls Denver home. That’s seven All-Stars who moved, a record for an NBA offseason.Every coach who started last season will start this season. That’s an NBA first. Here’s 10 things to know about the NBA season that is finally here:10. QUICK STARTERSFEATURED STORIESSPORTSWATCH: Drones light up sky in final leg of SEA Games torch runSPORTSSEA Games: Philippines picks up 1st win in men’s water poloSPORTSMalditas save PH from shutoutSan Antonio, Toronto and Miami will likely start 1-0 — because under current management, San Antonio, Toronto and Miami almost always start 1-0. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is 18-2 on opening night, Raptors coach Dwane Casey is 7-1 and Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is 7-2. Spoelstra has started 1-0 in each of the last six seasons, the longest such run in the NBA. A coach in need of a 1-0 start? Try New Orleans’ Alvin Gentry. He’s dropped five straight openers and is 2-9 on opening night. Brooklyn, Orlando, Milwaukee and Utah have the league’s longest current opening-night losing streaks, starting 0-1 in each of the last four seasons.9. FROM DISTANCELast season was the third straight where the NBA’s team single-season 3-point record fell, starting with Houston (933 in 2014-15), Golden State (1,077 in 2015-16) and Houston again (1,181 from 2016-17). Between the Rockets, Cleveland, Boston and the Warriors, four of the five highest single-season 3-point totals inhistory came last season. Don’t expect the 3-ball to go away anytime soon, either. 8. LEBRON’S MARKSLeBron James’ list of milestones is about to get longer. He comes into this season 1,213 points shy of becoming the seventh NBA player to reach 30,000, meaning it should happen by about the All-Star break barring any extended absence. He’s also on pace to eclipse the 8,000-rebound and 8,000-assist marks this season. The only other player in NBA history with 25,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 6,000 assists is Kobe Bryant. James already has all those numbers, and counting.7. WHERE’S THE DEFENSE?In 2014-15, half the league — 15 teams — held opponents under 100 points per game. Two seasons later, San Antonio and Utah were the only teams that managed the feat. The league’s planned crackdown on traveling this season might help, but it’ll be interesting to see if defensive numbers improve in this era of 3-point-reliant, pace-and-space basketball.6. MAYBE MINNESOTAThink about this, with apologies to fans in the Pacific Northwest: There have been more NBA playoff games in Seattle over the last 13 years than in Minneapolis. This will finally be the year that changes. The Timberwolves, who last reached the postseason in 2004, should return this spring even in a loaded Western Conference with Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and new addition Jimmy Butler leading the way.5. SPURS CHASE HISTORYIf the Spurs win 41 games this season — a safe bet — it’ll be the 21st consecutive season where San Antonio finishes the regular season at .500 or better. That would tie the NBA mark in that department, matching the feat set by the Utah Jazz from 1983-84 to 2003-04. The Spurs set a record for consecutive winning seasons last year with their 20th. (Utah was 41-41 in 1984-85.)4. DIRK’S LONGEVITYDallas’ Dirk Nowitzki enters this season 31 games away from passing Kevin Willis for No. 6 on the NBA’s all-time list. At 48,673 minutes, he’s also within striking distance of No. 5 Elvin Hayes (50,000), No. 4 Jason Kidd (50,111) and No. 3 Kevin Garnett (50,418).ADVERTISEMENT Brace for potentially devastating typhoon approaching PH – NDRRMC Garcia heats up late as EAC caps off season with a win LATEST STORIES Nonong Araneta re-elected as PFF president Fire hits houses in Mandaluyong City MOST READ Trending Articles PLAY LIST 00:50Trending Articles00:59Sports venues to be ready in time for SEA Games01:27Filipino athletes get grand send-off ahead of SEA Games01:37Protesters burn down Iran consulate in Najaf01:47Panelo casts doubts on Robredo’s drug war ‘discoveries’01:29Police teams find crossbows, bows in HK university01:35Panelo suggests discounted SEA Games tickets for students02:49Robredo: True leaders perform well despite having ‘uninspiring’ boss02:42PH underwater hockey team aims to make waves in SEA Games Don’t miss out on the latest news and information. The Warriors and Cavaliers are being penciled in to meet in the NBA Finals once again. They’re going to drive most of the conversation this season, a fact that is not lost on the league or its TV partners. When the season tips off Tuesday, Cleveland will take the center stage first, followed by the Warriors. (AP Photo/Tony Dejak, File)Happy New Year, NBA.The 72nd regular season starts Tuesday night, when Boston heads to Cleveland and Houston goes to Golden State. STEPH WATCHStephen Curry will have just turned 30 when this regular season ends. And by then, he legitimately could be No. 3 on the NBA’s all-time 3-point list. Curry starts this season No. 10, and at his current pace will pass Ray Allen for the top spot sometime in the 2019-2020 season.2. NEW DEADLINENo longer will the All-Star Game be overshadowed by talk of who’s getting moved where (like last year, when DeMarcus Cousins was traded to the Pelicans while players were still in locker rooms in New Orleans immediately after the game). The trade deadline will now be 10 days before the All-Star break, so this season that means Feb. 8.1. AND THE WINNER IS …How can anyone pick against Golden State right now? The Warriors will get their third title in four years, which is the easiest prediction possible. So we’ll finish this with some probably less-than-chalk picks: LeBron James is going to reclaim the MVP award, the Rockets will have a game where they connect 30 times from 3-point range and Charlotte’s Steve Clifford will be coach of the year.
For most programs and their fans, National Signing Day is Christmas come early. Each team adds a few dozen players who are coming off of illustrious high school careers. Most are either lauded by the various recruiting services or deemed “underrated” by the fans. While these major recruiting sites—Scout, Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN—can never evaluate every kid perfectly, studies have shown that the teams that consistently pull it blue chip talent are the ones that compete for national championships. SB Nation’s Bud Elliott wrote a great feature about this last February: As recruiting rankings continue to grow more accurate, they’re now to a point at which they can help tell us which teams are ready to compete for titles. Every BCS champion since recruiting rankings could be accurately tracked (2005, or four classes after Scout joined Rivals in rating players) has met a benchmark: it’s recruited more blue-chips (four- and five-star players) than lesser-rated players over its four previous signing classes. So, which programs have improved their recruiting the most from 2014 to 2015? Which have fallen off? Based on 247 Sports’ useful composite rankings, which use the ratings applied to each player from the four recruiting services, here are the 23 power conference teams whose recruiting rankings have improved the most.T-19. Colorado2014 Composite: 742015 Composite: 69Difference: +5As a program, Colorado has been wandering through the desert for years now. 2014 didn’t see a big difference in the Buffaloes’ win-loss record at 2-10, but Mike MacIntyre’s team was more competitive on the field. The Buffs took UCLA to double-overtime, eventually falling 40-37, and did the same in a total shootout against Cal, where they eventually fell 59-56. They also put up pretty respectable performances against Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington, and Utah. While the gains in recruiting weren’t substantial, Colorado did keep talented four star lineman Tim Lynott home. He was one of four of the top six recruits in the state to choose to play for CU. The Buffs also went into California to pull out talented outside linebacker Nu’umotu Falo. Colorado’s class isn’t huge at 19 players, which hurts its total ranking a bit, but it is a step in the right direction for a team that hopes to finally exit the rebuild stage over the next few years.T-19. Purdue2014 Composite: 692015 Composite: 64Difference: +5Purdue’s recruiting class ranks last in the Big Ten, but the Boilermakers are encroaching on Minnesota and Iowa, and don’t have winning seasons to fall back on like those schools. Purdue only has four wins in the first two seasons under Darrell Hazell, with only one coming in Big Ten play. Former coach Danny Hope had a bit more success late in his tenure, making back to back bowls in 2011 and 2012, but two of his classes ranked 70th or worse. Hazell is digging out of a big hole, and hasn’t had a ton of immediate success, but the deck was stacked against him, which makes it less surprising if he gets a bit of extra leeway at Purdue.T-19. Washington State2014 Composite: 542015 Composite: 49Difference: +5With Mike Leach on the sideline and Connor Halliday under center, Washington State had one of the most prolific offenses in the country in 2014. The Cougars were No. 1 in the nation in passing offense at 477.7 yards per game, and 117th in points against at 38.6 per game. While some don’t believe that Leach cares much about defense, this 2015 recruiting class says something different. Wazzu’s lone four-star player Thomas Toki plays defensive tackle, and is one of 11 Cougar commits on that side of the ball. According to 247 Sports, seven of the Cougs’ nine top recruits play on defense. While bringing a top 50 class to Pullman and improving on last year’s class is a good thing, if Washington State can start to build that defense, it will not be a fun group to play.T-19. Nebraska2014 Composite: 362015: Composite: 31Difference: +5Coaching changes almost always have an immediate impact on recruiting. Occasionally, it takes a year for excitement about a new coach to result in improvement, but new Nebraska coach Mike Riley actually improved on Bo Pelini’s final class right away. The program has a pair of four-star early enrollees from Colorado in cornerbacks Eric Lee and Avery Anderson, and picked up a top ten guard in four star Jalin Barnett. Nebraska is not a state rich with high school football talent, which makes recruiting for the Huskers a bit tricky, but Riley did a very nice job dipping into Texas, Oklahoma, and even out to California and the Southeast for quality players.T-19. Oregon2014 Composite: 212015 Composite: 16Difference: +5There is a pocket of the Oregon fanbase that is not yet sold on head coach Mark Helfrich, at least when compared to his predecessor Chip Kelly, but he has done a great job of maintaining Oregon’s high level of recruiting, despite the fact that the state produces very few FBS caliber players. Oregon plucked players from eight different states, and it leaves no stones unturned. The Ducks are bringing in players from California, Georgia, Hawaii, and Minnesota—their recruiting profile is about as varied as any team can get. Headlining this impressive class are five-star defensive end Canton Kaumatule from Honolulu, who should be a force against both the run and the pass at 6-foot-7, 290-pounds, and dual-threat quarterback Travis Waller from Anaheim.T-17. Arkansas2014 Composite: 292015 Composite: 23Difference: +6Since shutting out LSU 17-0 on November 15, Arkansas has been on a roll. The Razorbacks followed that up with an even more impressive 30-0 win over Ole Miss, narrowly lost to SEC East champion Missouri, and then destroyed Texas in the Texas Bowl, 31-7. In mid-October, it didn’t look like Arkansas would make a bowl. Now, the team has a ton of momentum, and took it into the end of this recruiting cycle. The Hogs had five blue chip players enroll early, including pro style quarterback Ty Storey from in state. Arkansas has also added a couple of four star defensive linemen, and two top tight ends, which should help round out Bret Bielema’s run-heavy offense a bit. Amazingly, Arkansas’ class only ranks 11th in the SEC, but it should help them stay competitive in the SEC West, college football’s toughest division. Bhatapara: Amid claims of “misusing” the armed forces for electoral gain, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday said the strength of “one vote” had enabled the surgical strike and air strike in Pakistan.Addressing a poll rally here in Chhattisgarh, Modi said the India of today carries out surgical and air strikes across the border and shoots down satellite in space due to the strength of “one vote” of the people. The Election Commission last week sought a report from poll officials in Maharashtra after Modi’s remarks at a rally in Latur, where he asked first-time voters to dedicate their vote to those who carried out the Balakot air strike. The report was sought in the context of an EC advisory issued last month asking parties to desist from indulging in political propaganda involving actions of the armed forces. Modi also stepped up attack on Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, saying it was the mindset of the “sultanate” of the ‘Naamdar’ to abuse the deprived and treat them as slaves.

NEW DELHI: Dairy major Amul said on Monday that it will increase milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in Delhi NCR, Maharashtra and other states from Tuesday due to an increase in production cost. Milk prices were last revised two years back in March 2017, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells milk and milk products under the Amul brand, said in a statement. The new price will come into effect from May 21 onwards and on all six brands being sold in major markets of Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, West Bengal, Kolkata, Uttaranchal, Maharashtra and other states, the GCMMF said in a statement. Considering the increase in the cost of milk production, all member milk unions of Gujarat have increased the milk purchase price by a minimum of Rs 30-50 per kg fat (5-8 per cent) over the last few months, it said. Also Read – Union min Hardeep Singh Puri, Delhi L-G lay foundation stones for various projects in DwarkaMilk prices were last revised two years back in March 2017, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells milk and milk products under the Amul brand, said in a statement. According to GCMMF officials, the national and international dairy markets have witnessed adverse conditions for the last two years. Due to this, there has been a steep decline in the prices of commodities such as skimmed milk powder and butter oil which had resulted into decline in producer prices of milk across India leading to adverse impact on milk producers. “The milk cooperatives of Gujarat, however, continued to pay remunerative prices of milk to its producers and the average final price of milk paid to our producers has increased from Rs 710 per kg fat in 2017-18 to Rs 730 per kg fat in 2018-19,” the release states. The milk prices are being hiked due to increase in the price of major cattle feed ingredients such as de-oiled rice bran, rice polish fine, molasses, maize which has resulted in an increase in the cattle feed price by over 15 per cent.
